Thyroid Disorders
The thyroid gland influences the functioning of every organ in the body, including the brain. Hypothyroidism is a common medical condition. When diagnosed, Hashimoto’s is the most common cause.
An underactive thyroid gland can wreak havoc upon one’s physical and mental well-being. The thyroid gland, a butterfly-shaped gland at the base of the throat, produces hormones that regulate the basic metabolic rate of every cell and organ in the body.
Hashimoto’s Disease, an autoimmune illness of the thyroid gland is very common, and results when lymphocytes attack the thyroid gland. This problem is more common in women, and thyroid antibodies will only be formed when there is oxidative damage to the thyroid gland.
We test hypothyroidism using a wide variety of tests including but not limited to:
-
TSH, free T4, T3, free T3, Reverse T3
- Thyroid Peroxidase(TPO) antibodies
- Serum Ferritin
